Virginia Pickett was born in 1833 at Turkey Island Virginia. Her parents were Robert and Mary Pickett. Virginia was one of eight children born to Robert and Mary. Of the eight children born into the Pickett family only three survived to adulthood. Virginia was one of the three and her surviving siblings were General George Pickett of Pickett's Charge and Captain Charles Pickett and all three upon their births joined a long line of Virginia aristocracy that began in 1639. As one of the three surviving children born to Robert and Mary Pickett, Virginia spent her youth living on Turkey Island (now called Malvern Hill). Danette attended her first reenactment about 7 years ago when she moved to Hinton, WV to be with her parents. She is married, lives with my husband Jay and two children Gary Allen and Robyn Frye. Al and Shirley Stone are my parents. She is co-owner of the New River Mercantile sutlery with my mom. Her son Gary portrays Lt. W. Stuart Symington on General Pickett's staff and her daughter is a civilian in our camp who helps with cooking. Danette's husband portrays Lt. General James Longstreet; he works for a computer company and has lived in Hinton, WV for about 7 years.
