Major Charles Pickett – AAG Pickett's Division – Longstreet’s 1st Corps – ANV

Portrayed by Henry Clay Pickett III his great great Grandson.

Charles Pickett was born in 1840 at the family home place known as Turkey Island. He was raised in a wealthy Virginia family and learned the ways of a gentleman. He Attended the University of Virginia from 1857 thhru 1859 and was preparing to be a Doctor. When the war broke out he enlisted in the 1st Va. Infantry Co. F and was Elected quartermaster. When his brother George Pickett reached the rank of Brig. General Charles resigned from the 1st Va. And joined Pickett’s Brigade as a 2nd Lieutenant as a staff officer. Charles was wounded in the leg at Fraziers Farm while Advancing the colors on foot after losing his horse. He recovered in time to be at Fredericksburg and then traveled with Pickett’s Division to Gettysburg. By this time He had been promoted to Major as AAG of Pickett’s Division. He fought with Pickett’s Division until the bitter end and surrendered at Appomattox Court House. After the war He became a wealthy and respected businessman in Norfolk Va. Where he died in 1899.
