Lee's Lieutenants Courier Travis Pence

Our courier though very young was a typical age for a person of this duty between the companies. Other duties our courier performs are of standard barer. Both of these duties were very important to the military of the time.

As a courier his duties would have included the delivery of messages between commands and the return of any response required to the message. This position would often come in harms way during the battle and would provide a desired target for the sharpshooters of the day.

The standard barer was also a position of importance in that the standards were used as points of command and control on the field of battle and again were primary targets of the sharpshooters and solders of the opposing force.
