Belle was born in 1844 and at the onset of the war was living in Martinsburg, Virginia at her family home. When the Union forces occupied Martinsburg Belle shoot her first Union soldier when he broke into the family home on 4th of July 1861. Belle's charm and grace allowed her to convince Union officers to divulge important information in this time and through secret messengers she ensured the information was passed to the likes of Generals Jackson and Beauregard.

Belle was first arrested by the Union in early 1862 and detained for a week in Baltimore. After her release for a short period she kept a low profile but in mid-May 1862 she was back at her craft and spied on a secret Union strategy session in front Royal from a closet directly above the meeting. The information gained from this meeting was passed to Turner Ashby but only after a midnight ride of 15 mile through Union sentries.

With the information Belle gained during the time spent in Front Royal she was able to provide General Jackson's forces information on the forces at Front Royal for Jackson's advance the town. This information was passed to Jackson through the man Belle met of importance, this man was Kyd Douglas.

Belle found herself again in the hands of the Union , when on the 30th of July 1863 she was imprisoned in Washington's Old Prison. She remained there for a period of one month but was released as part of a prisoner exchange. After the exchange she proceeded to Richmond where she spent a few months among her admiring countryman. In the summer of 1863 Belle returned to Martinsburg but only to be arrested again by the Union Army. This time her stay at Washington's Old Prison lasted until December of 1863 were she was released and banished to the south.

Belle Boyd is portrayed by Robyn Frye and is on the same age Belle was during the War for Southern Independence. She is currently a senior in high school.
