Mary
Anna Morrison Jackson was born in 1831 in Mecklenburg, NC,
near Charlotte. She was the daughter of a Presbyterian minister
and president of Davidson College, Robert Hall Morrison and
his wife, Mary Graham Morrison. She married Thomas Jackson
on July 16, 1857; his second wife. They had one daughter,
Mary Graham Jackson, who was born on April 30, 1858, but died
less than a month later on May 25. They then had a daughter,
Julia, who was born in November 1862. Anna & Thomas were
extremely devoted to God and to each other. After Thomas died
in May 1863, Anna moved back to live with her family in Charlotte,
NC. There, she founded the Charlotte Chapter of the United
Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Mecklenburg County chapter
of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She died in 1915
at the age of 83.
